I ran campaigning for "A Working Class Fight, a Working Class Policy" with four other candidates, 2 of whom were workers who ran for Congressional positions. In the school board election I received almost 10% of the "vote" (which represented almost 20%of the people who voted since each voter could vote for 3 candidates). I came in 4th by a grass roots campaign. Political History: Based on the results of the 2014 election, where nearly 17,000 people voted for four of our candidates, (and another 15,000 voted for the fifth person who was uncontested) I was one of the organizers, along with the four other candidates, in the effort to put a new political party on the ballot in Michigan in 2016: Working Class Party. Over 50,000 people signed petitions attesting to the fact that the working class needs its own party. I am a socialist militant, and have been active in organizing in the working class for years. I am known by many workers and their families, especially at Ford Rouge. Community Activity: Several generations of people throughout the Detroit Metropolitan area have come through my classroom. I have been a long time advocate for students and their families, the custodians, secretaries and other support staff of the college, as well as part time teachers, who make up the backbone of the teaching staff of all colleges.
